Welcome to BikeFit Surrey. We are a small off-road cycling club of up to 50 members and we offer fun, social and relaxed led off-road cycle rides around SE Surrey.
A combination of bridlepaths, fields, woodland and hidden tracks form a large part of our routes which are designed for MTB bikes only.
BikeFit rides are graded as Easy, Easy+, Steady, Steady+, Well and Well+ depending on steepness, pace and technical difficulty.
When you first join a ride with us, we ask that you have a reasonable level of fitness and are able to ride between 8 to 10 miles on a non-ebike without too much trouble.
We strongly recommend that you start with an Easy ride on a Tuesday and please also make sure to read our ride info.
Should you decide to join us after your trial ride, you'll be invited to join our SPOND app where you can find start times and further details about our rides. Please also see our calendar for details.
We strongly recommend that you start with an Easy ride on a Tuesday.
Please also make sure to read our ride info.
BikeFit offers the following levels of riding (with start times being variable, adjusted to the type of ride):
Tuesday rides: Easy Easy+ Steady
To join our rides you should be confident to ride 8 to 10 miles on a non-ebike.
Thursday rides: Steady Steady+ WellWell+
These rides are for non-ebikes only (see ebike paragraph below) and are aimed for those who are confident on their bike and can manage some rooty downhill sections occasionally at a faster pace.
Friday rides:Steady Steady+
These rides are for riders who would like to go a little further and steeper. They are similar to our Tuesday Steady Rides but often longer. Average length about 2 to 3 hours approx.
Our rides are for MTB bikes and are designed to give you a rich cycling experience with viewpoints and places of interest along the way. They are on a mixture of bridleways, fields and some mostly quiet roads but may include some rougher more challenging terrain- think roots and mud in winter! We are all out to enjoy the experience of sharing the ride with a group of people also out to enjoy themselves on their bikes. We usually meet at a pub afterwards for a drink, maybe something to eat and a chat. Bring layers of clothing with you, especially in the winter.
We are predominantly an non-ebike club and while we do allow ebikes on certain days, we reserve this for riders who have previously ridden non-ebikes with us and who may require the temporary assistance of an ebike due to injury or other physical limitations. Our rides are generally not long or challenging enough to provide a sufficient workout for permanent ebike riders.
We understand the value and enjoyment ebikes offer, but as there are other clubs that cater specifically to ebike riders, we prefer to focus on enhancing the fitness and enjoyment of non-ebike riders and keeping our activities as non-motorised as possible.
We do NOT permit e-bikes on a Thursday ride as these rides are reserved for riders to get fit on non-ebikes but if you are a regular Thursday rider suffering a temporary injury, an ebike is acccepted on a Thursday to get you up and running again.
Our club couldn't exist without our riders and their help. Many riders have different roles (eg. ride leaders, committee members, social secretary, webmaster, etc) helping to run the club efficiently and making it a fun experience for everyone.
We are always grateful for any helping hand especially leading rides. We encourage every rider to consider becoming a leader if they so wish and will always support them. Leading rides can also be shared with a another person on the ride.
Easy Easy+
These rides are about building confidence and ability. They largely on quiet roads or traffic free paths, working at the pace of the slowest. Average length 2 hours approx.
To join our Tuesday group, we ask that you can ride between 8 to 10 miles on a non-ebike without too much trouble before coming along.
Steady
Are you more experienced but would like some company? Do you like the challenge of the odd hill or two? (Although we always wait at the top for those taking a slower pace/walking!) Are you ready to push yourself a little to increase your fitness? Are you happy to break into the occasional sweat? Steady routes are probably best for you.
These rides are non-ebikes only!
Steady Steady+
Starting from in and around the Redhill, Reigate & Dorking areas
These rides are largely on bridlepaths, quiet roads or traffic free paths, working at the pace of the slowest with some hills, and slightly rougher sections. Average length 2 hours approx, usually followed by a pub lunch or snack which can take it up to 2.5 to 3 hours.
Well Well+
If you've been out with us a few times and are ready to broaden your cycling horizons and take on a bit more of a challenge, trying a couple of steeper hills perhaps, or a few more of them, but still at a pace you'll be comfortable with, try our Well routes.
